• Yorkies complete the Mascot Gold Cup, raising over £2,800!

New Yorkie and Original Yorkie both took part in Sunday’s Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse, as they raised money for York City FC charity partners. Our Yorkies had lots of fun on the day, meeting other mascots, chucking water over each other, and giving it their all (kind of) in the ultimate race. Following the race, the Yorkies gave their thoughts: “So, it’s not quite the last-place finish we were after despite our valiant efforts. “We felt guilty about two elderly ladies dressed as rabbits and therefore stumbled over the line. “We did, however, entertain the crowd, and surely there’s a steward’s enquiry about the most entertaining mascot… a tin of something which entertained nobody at all. “We move on, and next year, we plan an assault on winning the race, so we either shape up, or we find a proper runner. “Hinsh has shown how things improve in 12 months… let’s do the same!” So far, an incredible figure of £2,850 has been raised, and there’s still time to donate! Click here. All proceeds will be split equally with our Charity Partners: Kitchen for Everyone York The Snappy Trust The Wilf Ward Family Trust York Mind Each donation...

The post Yorkies complete the Mascot Gold Cup, raising over £2,800! appeared first on York City Football Club.

 • Ladies Match Report | York City Ladies 1-4 Leeds United Women

Photo by Ian Parker On a glorious afternoon at York Sport Stadium, it was the visitors who started on the front foot with Amy Woodruff seeing her shot roll just wide of Becky Sidwell’s post. The MinsterBelles responded well and took the lead in the 3rd minute courtesy of Captain Ocean Rolandsen. She won the ball back in the area before she curled into the far corner to put her side ahead. The lead only lasted 13 minutes as Leeds United Women hit back through Woodruff. The Striker battled her way through the defence before calmly slotting past Sidwell. Both sides then exchanged opportunities just minutes later with Jess Holder seeing her shot saved by Carrie Simpson before Woodruff fired just over the crossbar at the other end. Sidwell was called into action in the 25th minute when she made a smart save to push a Woodruff strike away from goal. The visitors made their dominance count in the 33rd minute when they took the lead for the first time. Former MinsterBelles Midfielder Alice Hughes heading a Sarah Danby corner into the back of the net. The game continued to be played at a fast pace and with her side...

The post Ladies Match Report | York City Ladies 1-4 Leeds United Women appeared first on York City Football Club.

 • Match Report | York City 2-0 Solihull Moors

Photo by Tom Poole Written by Oliver Collins York came out on top with a routine victory over Solihull Moors in the final league home game of the season, thanks to goals from Cameron John and Dipo Akinyemi. After a nice move down the right hand side Cameron John opened the scoring, slotting the ball home at the near post after 3 minutes with the first chance of the game, for his first York City goal. York’s next chance of the game would come courtesy of John again, who played a cross high into the box, which went over the head of Richardson. York had the first corner of the game, Howe’s header however was easily caught by Walker. The first booking of the game came in the 23rd minute for newly crowned Clubman of the Year, Joe Felix, after a challenge on James Clarke. Tyresse Sinclair would have the next best chance of the game, however, he wasn’t fully able to control the ball, with Walker making a decent save. The referee then dismissed a penalty shout from York after Richardson was dragged down in the box after some good footwork. Richardson’s good footwork was a theme throughout the...

The post Match Report | York City 2-0 Solihull Moors appeared first on York City Football Club.

 • Joe Felix is your 2024/25 York City Clubman of the Year

Joe Felix has been named as our Clubman of the Year for the 2024/25 season, earning a majority vote from the supporters. He was presented the Billy Fenton Memorial Trophy by Mark, Steve, and Nicky Fenton prior to kick-off at our final home game of the regular Vanarama National League season against Solihull Moors. The versatile full-back joined City last May from Worthing to reunite with manager Adam Hinshelwood, becoming our second recruit of the season. After a fantastic campaign with the Rebels, Felix’s form got even better when he kick-started his Minstermen career, keeping eight clean sheets in the opening twelve games. The 25-year-old grabbed his first assist for the club away at Solihull Moors during a 3-0 win, before notching another in our Emirates FA Cup tie against Biggleswade FC not long after. Felix played a vital part in helping City reach the summit of the league table by November, a month when he also scored his first goal in York colours – despite being narrowly edged out with a 3-2 scoreline, he threw us a lifeline late on in our FA Cup First Round clash with Wycombe Wanderers. Our number 23 has continued to contribute throughout the...

The post Joe Felix is your 2024/25 York City Clubman of the Year appeared first on York City Football Club.
