• U19s Match Report: York City U19s 9-2 Solihull Moors U19s

The U19s signed off their final home game of the season with an entertaining 9-2 victory over Solihull Moors on Wednesday afternoon. Ben Farrar was back to lead the line for this one, as Tom Hewson dropped to the bench. The returning striker produced the first chance of the game, cutting in and flashing a low effort narrowly wide of the post. Soon after, Solihull clipped the top of the crossbar from a long-range free-kick. More opportunities came City’s way, before the breakthrough arrived in the 26th minute. A superb cross from Lewis Beadle found Farrar, who managed to slice the ball into the net. Eleven minutes later, the lead was doubled. Oz Shaw’s ball across goal picked out Sutton Greening, who reacted quickest to convert after his initial effort had been saved. York added further goals before the break, with both Farrar and Greening completing their braces. Farrar finished from close range following another Beadle assist, before Greening capitalised on a loose ball almost instantaneously from the restart, driving forward into the box and finding the far bottom corner. Jake Roberts entered the fray in the 50th minute and, as he has done so many times this season, made...

The post U19s Match Report: York City U19s 9-2 Solihull Moors U19s appeared first on York City Football Club.

 • PROMOTION PARTY AT THE LNER

We can confirm that we will be holding a Champions Celebration event at the LNER Community Stadium this Wednesday! Following lengthy discussions with both the council and police, it has been made clear that a bus parade around the city centre would not be a possible option to celebrate our National League triumph. As disappointing as this is, we have been working extremely hard to still hold an event for fans to gather and to be able to celebrate this moment with the club. With that, we have worked at length with the SMC, and we can confirm that a promotion party will be taking place this Wednesday at the LNER. Date: Wednesday, 29th April Time: 7:30pm start Turnstiles Open: 6:30pm Tickets for this event can be purchased online. All tickets are £1, which covers the relevant admin fee as well as a donation to the Candlelighters Trust in support of Harry Rowntree. Tickets are on general sale at a maximum of four per person. Sales will be monitored closely with more stands ready to open if required. The event will not be one to miss as we will host another trophy lift with fireworks. We will also have a live...

The post PROMOTION PARTY AT THE LNER appeared first on York City Football Club.

 • York City Ladies secure their status as a National League club for a fifth season!

Yesterday marked the end of the season for York City Ladies first team, who secured Women’s National League status for a fifth consecutive season! This is a phenomenal achievement for the club, and York, just one day after York City have confirmed their return to the English Football League – many congratulations and well deserved. The team ended the season on fifteen points, four points clear of relegation, with Doncaster Rovers Belles and Blackburn Rovers finishing below the team. The team welcomed Blackburn Rovers to York Sport Stadium, with a day of family fun planned on a sunny afternoon in York. The squad needed only one point to guarantee their safety, regardless of the other Division 1 North results. From the first minute of the game Katie Astle and Rosie Bell linked up well on the left hand side, with York players scrambling in the opposition box for an early opener. City’s first real chance came from Milly Ash, only seven minutes into the game, forcing a great save from the Blackburn goalkeeper. Possession was retained through Ruby Shaw, Eliza Benson and Katie Varley who kept the flow across the midfield, before another chance fell to York through Dani Trickett,...

The post York City Ladies secure their status as a National League club for a fifth season! appeared first on York City Football Club.
